Tips for a Birthday Party in the Farm at Karangahake

To make every farm birthday party safe, enjoyable, and truly memorable, we ask that children remain under adult supervision at all times while on the property.

Some children may be unfamiliar with farm animals and how to interact with them. We kindly encourage all guests to treat the animals with respect and care, remembering they are living creatures who deserve gentle handling. While we have never had to cancel a birthday party, we reserve the right to do so if behaviour is not properly supervised and poses a risk to either the animals or the children. Our goal is for everyone to have a safe, fun, and magical farm celebration.

What do we do if it rains?

Our covered area is well sheltered and keeps everyone warm and dry during wet weather. The majority of the farm itself is an outdoor activity, so it is affected by wet weather. However, our motto is “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!” and party guests still have a wonderful time here on damp days if they’ve come well-prepared.

How long can we stay?

Birthdays usually last around 3 hours, but you can stay as long as you’d like (within opening hours).

How far in advance do we need to book before we plan to hold the birthday?

Short notice is fine! However, the covered birthday party area must be booked and is subject to availability, so it is best to book ahead to ensure it is available.

What if we need to cancel?

That’s fine, and we don’t charge a penalty fee. But please let us know as soon as possible.

Will it be suitable for my child's age group?

Kids of all ages love the Farm Park. Actually, humans of all ages enjoy the Farm Park.

Is there somewhere outside that we can have our birthday party picnic?

There are several picnic areas around the Farm Park to choose from.

Is there a restaurant or café on-site?

Unfortunately, we don’t. Our Coffee Cart offers drinks and real fruit ice cream, but we don’t have a café on-site. Please ensure you provide plenty of food, snacks, and drinks, or organise separate catering for the day of the event.

Can we take a look at the farm and facilities before we book?

Yes! You’re very welcome to pop in during our opening hours and see what we offer.

The animals were so friendly and added so much joy to our experience. The park is a fantastic destination for families with young children.
